Leaving Limehouse

Wonderful luminous morning - watching boats locking out onto the Thames I was envious- but I don't have VHF radio, so no debate there. Limehouse Basin has been redeveloped with an almost complete lack of flair- lots of flats, but nothing special- sad.

Looking upstream past Gordon Ramsay's F*****g restaurant towards Tower Bridge.

Horrific bit of suburbia dumped in the docks - didn't they do well !
Parts of Limehouse Cut suffer from incredible weed growth - the pictures look as though they have been doctored.
This is a disused section of waterway, which will be re-opened to navigation as part of the Olympics work. Three Mills Lock has now been finished and it's all good news for this neglected part of the city.

If this photo looks suspiciously good, it's because it was taken by crew #4, who is better than me!

Heron liked the green stuff......

The Lee Valley is noted for its gas and electric kit - enough said about the day's trip, except that we met friends at a pub at lunchtime, took an American brewer for a ride and went up the Limehouse Cut past all sorts of old industrial sites, new housing and right by the massive construction site which is the olympic Stadium and all the stuff which goes with it. Tower cranes for miles. The transformation of "Fridge City" - which has been the working end of London for centuries - should see a huge transformation. Power to their elbows ! The Lee Navigation is not (at least yet) a place where you might want to linger.......
